Furniture Donation & Disposal
In preparing to relocate, people often decide to get rid of furniture they no longer want or that isn’t suited for the new home. They may choose to give furniture or other items to friends/family, sell them, or in many cases are just looking to donate them. Here are some of our suggestions if you are looking to donate your furniture:
Furniture Bank, Matthew House Ottawa, and Helping With Furniture will pick up items and give them directly to families in need. They may charge a pick-up fee.
Thrift shops such as Habitat for Humanity Restore, Salvation Army, and St. Vincent De Paul will pick-up and resell furniture to raise money for charity.
If these organizations can not pick-up at a time that suits your schedule, you can have us drop off the items on moving day.
Smaller items may also be dropped off at Value Village.
In preparing for an upcoming move, people often need to declutter and get rid of “junk” they have accumulated over the years. If these items are not worthy of being donated, they may end up in the trash. If you end up with more trash than can reasonably be put at the curn=b on garbage day, you might decide to hire a junk removal company such as Capital Junk, Just Junk, A Man and His Truck, or 1-800 Got Junk.
